If humans were the aliens to a planet, what would we do to the inhabitants?

We all see TV shows and movies where aliens come and try to blast us to bits, but I have a feeling it would be the other way if we actually met another race. What if we traveled to another planet and found an intelligent species living there, they might not necessarily be more advanced than us. Do you think we would enslave them the way Columbus did to the natives of the Caribbean when he arrived on Hispaniola?
