Books like the movie Super 8?

I really really enjoyed the movie super 8 and I would like some recommendations for books that are similar to it (sci-fi, suspenseful, mysterious, etc) Let me just say now that I hate anything like star wars, so not that kind of sci-fi please. And don't suggest Slawter by Darren Shan (it's similar cause they are making a movie and demons attack), or I Am Number Four (aliens and such) cause I have already read both, but I really enjoyed them so anything like that or even different whatever. I just want suggestions :D thanks!
