Do the rubber tips on converse shoes stretch out after a while?

I bought some yesterday and they seems to fit alright, but after working in them for a day all i could think about for the last half hour or so was that my toes felt like sardines packed in that little rubber front. The rest of the shoe almost fits my foot perfectly, i was wondering if i should return them to footlocker and get the next size up or just let them stretch out.
