Are there any sort of voodoo type people infecting minds in the Middle East?

We live in Qatar (but originally from America) and my 13 year old brother has for the past few years been dabbling in some sort of voodoo with it getting worse all the time. He makes dolls in which he hollows out and collects blood, skin, hair and other bodily fragments (even a tooth) for which he will not tell us where they came from. He also writes in a strange language which he says is the "cursed language of demons." What might he be into and where might he have learnt it? Our stepmother is a devout Muslim and she has taken him to see an Imam about his possible possession by evil but it has not helped him.
